Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar Trip

The feeling of going to a road trip is just amazing. Though some of us like to plan a lot. Well in my case the case is different. The plan is done at the last moment. Also we are not aware of what will be the mode of transport. I have been to Mahabaleshwar many times. Well the last time I went was with 2 of my friends in by car. A road trip with friends is always fun. All boys trip makes it more and more fun. We started our journey from Pune.

Well we started our journey early morning 7am. We first fueled up our sedan car which was our companion for the journey. The drive was just amazing. Listening to the favourite songs while driving is too much fun. Also talking and sharing memories with friends is like the best time of life. Travel helps you to rejuvenate your mind and soul. Thats what was the process going on. With the empty roads it is always fun to drive far away from the city`s traffic. The weather was brilliant and it was greenery all around. Beautiful scenaries across the road.

Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar Trip

Well we reached Panchgani, Satara District, Maharashtra, India and visited the Table Land. This is a plain terrain land on a hilly region. Yes it is a plateau. Panchgani comes in the Sahyadri mountains. It is 100 km form Pune. So a drive of 100 kms was completed successfully and it was time to enjoy the winds at Table Land. There are five hills which are surrounding the Panchgani which are topped by a plateau. This is the second longest plateau in Asia after the Tibetian Plateau. They are called as Table Land and are part of the Deccan Plateau.

Well the atmosphere was awesome and the winds were blowing at the Table Land. Enjoying the beautiful scenery around table land will make your time passed quickly. Nature was it its best! Lovely views from the Table Land of the mountains and greenery around. We also visited a cave which is near the Table Land. It was very awesome experience indeed.

Then we visited the Panchganga Mandir. Its very serene place for sure. In the nature`s beauty it was a great feeling. Well someone has said it well that travel cannot be put into words but should be experienced. Though I will try to make my travel put into words. As it was the time of rainy season. Though we were lucky enough that there were not too much rains and we enjoyed the journey. Mahabaleshwar is a hill station and heavy rainfall is expected in the months of June-July. Also the weather is very cold in the winter season.

So while driving at night or early morning there was fog. It is very interesting to drive in fog as you got to be very much careful. Also because of excess fog in the rainy season we did missed some of the exquisite points to view in Mahabaleshwar. The view of sight is very less so you cannot enjoy much scenery in the rainy season. But the views of waterfalls on the journey are just adorable. There are a lot of instances where we thought that we should wait and just enjoy the nature around us. Guess what, we did stopped at waterfalls and enjoyed the nature. The weather was awesome and it used to drizzle. Without an umbrella, but walking around in raincoats felt great.

With friends, I am on extreme right 🙂

Having hot food in such a weather is a bliss. There used to be instances where we enjoyed tea from time to time. It was a two day trip and we had a halt in Panchgani itself at my friend`s farmhouse. We had fun near by the farm house as there is a lot of greenery and like meditation in the nature. Though as we had a car with us it was like suitable to go anywhere. Even for dinner we drove to Mahabaleshwar at night and came back. That was a delicious dinner at Mahabaleshwar.

In the market we also played various games and enjoyed fast food. Corn in rainy days is a great delight. So sweetcorn was our all time favourite dish during the journey. We went back at farmhouse after dinner and had a good sleep. Next day it was time to say good bye to Panchgani and we went to Mahabaleshwar. There we visited near by places. In summer if you visit these nearby places you will see great mountains and awesome nature around Mahabaleshwar. We also visited Pratapgad Fort. Then it was late afternoon and on route we visited my friend`s favourite restaurant to enjoy our lunch.

Then our return journey starts from Mahabaleshwar, back to Pune. We visited the Venna Lake. As it was rainy season the boating was closed. But in summer and winter season people and tourists enjoy boating in this lake. Though we had a great time enjoying hot sweetcorn near the lake and standing on the bridge and enjoying the cold breeze was fascinating. We also visited Mapro Garden while coming back to Pune. This is a great place for hangout with friends. We did few shopping of delicious juice and syrups. One of my friend is a crazy fan of their products and our car`s whole boot space was now filled with shopping bags and our travel bags. 🙂

We drove safe and enjoyed music on the long drive. Tracks from Dil Chahta Hai are always mesmerizing and evergreen to enjoy on route. The best part of the tour was that it was planned suddenly and we needed a break from our busy schedule of work. You get to learn a lot of things from traveling. The main is the culture of the people. As it was not so far from Pune so did`nt saw much difference but yes, people living in hill stations have a different lifestyle for sure. Knowing different culture is always fun. You get to learn a lot of things and there are people whose livelihood depends upon tourism in few areas for sure.

We came back at night in Pune safe and sound! 🙂 It was a nice road trip to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar and thought of sharing my journey with you. Have you visited these places? Let us know anything which you would like to share with us in comments below.
