Hey, I am also one of you youngsters whose one of the major concern is to protect my skin in summers. So, I am here to give all you guys some tips to protect your skin this summer. Summer means sun, shorts, sandals and bronze skin. But with this summer, comes the problem which subjects you to sun damage and on the same note, avoiding the outdoors altogether is both impractical and nearly impossible. Thus, taking preventive measure in preparing and caring for it are crucial in keeping your skin in tip-top condition for the ultimate skin baring season.
Skin care in summer needs a special attention because during the summers, the skin natural oils start flowing freely which makes the skin appear dull, oily and blemished. In addition, the increased susceptibility to UV rays of the sun results in a major problem for the youngster-‘skin tanning’.
Sun burn or sun tan is a common problem faced by all of us, and the skin can get tanned any time it is not protected by sunscreen or clothes. The main reason for the tanning is a compound called melanin which is present in the skin. The colour of our skin is due to melanin and people with darker skin have more melanin compared to the people who have lighter skin tones.
Now, you can beat the summer tan and flaunt your short dresses and can roam around in sleeveless as well as tank tops in style without fear.
10 Tips to Protect Your Skin this Summer
Following are the some tips to be kept in mind for skin during summer:-
Hydrate Yourself
During summer, your body tends to lose a lot of moisture. So, it is important to hydrate your body with water from time to time. Drinking lots of water will help your skin remain soft and moisturised. Eating lot of fruits will keep your digestive system healthy.
Using a toner
A skin toner will keep the pores closed and keep the skin cool. You can try rose water as it is natural and excellent for summers.
Apply sunscreen
Sunscreen is the best way by which your skin is protected. Choose a sunscreen which has a combination of sunscreen and moisturiser. You need to nourish your skin with vitamins and anti-oxidants for long term benefits.
Use face wash
Clean your face at least twice a day. Keep a routine to wash your face once in morning and evening. Choose a cleanser which is gentle for your skin type. Look for a cleanser which constitutes of mild AH or BH acids and do not use the cleansers more than twice a day.
Waterproof or no make-up
Make-up, again an essential part of the life of girls can become a mess during summers because of the rise in temperature. Use light make-up or the materials which are water proof.
Avoid aerated drinks
Aerated drinks contains lots of sugar which is not good for your face, instead, drink water, fresh lime, fresh lime, fresh fruit juices or coconut water. You should also minimise the intake of alcohol and caffeine as they reduce the water content from the body.

Stay out of the reach of the sun between 10am- 3pm
The hottest part of the day during the summer is between 10 am to 3 pm. Don’t stay out in the sun around these hours as your skin will be exposed the most to the radiation at such hours. Get your activities done in the earlier or the later cooler hours of the day.
Avoid spraying perfume on the skin
The perfumes (especially citrus perfumes) can permanently stain your skin when they come in contact with the sun. During the summers, it is recommended that you spring the fragrance on your clothes rather than your skin.
Rinse skin after swimming
This is especially important when you swim in chlorinated waters. The chlorine can dry out the skin and for some; it can even result in allergic reactions.
Wear protective clothing over your skin
Cover as much skin as you can, use lightweight fabrics when it’s very hot. Choose the cloth material that won’t itch, scratch, or overheat you and prefer light colours over the darker ones, to keep the heat level down.
Wear a hat. Your facial skin will benefit enormously by wearing a hat in the heat of the sun.
Wear sunglasses to protect your sensitive eye skin (and eyes). The sensitive skin around your eyes is prone to fast aging.
